RETAILERS across the area have been celebrating as The News’ first Retail and Leisure awards took place.
The awards were introduced to recognise the successful retail and leisure businesses across the area.
They took place tonight [Saturday 26th September] at the Marriott Hotel in North Harbour. The Solent Mobility Centre in Lee-on-the-Solent, which sells and maintains mobility equipment, won the award for Non Fashion Retailer of the Year.
Brothers Ben and Jamie Watts collected the award.
Jamie said: ‘It’s amazing. It’s absolutely brilliant. We didn’t expect to win. There were so many people up for the award.
‘We have got a great team. They are the ones that have won the award. They are the reason that we won this.’
Ben added: ‘We put a lot of effort into customers service and we try to be the best that we can be and to make sure that we help people as a mobility company so people can depend on us and rely on us. ‘Being a family business, that’s what we try and rely on.’
Other winners include Montagu’s Cafe Bar and Bistro in Whiteley, which won the award for Bar or Restaurant of the Year and Indoor Climbing Centre Rock Up, also based in Whiteley, which won the award for Leisure Venue of the Year.
