Help to promote and fill vacancies

Locally available advice and support to advertise vacancies and recruit new staff in Gosport (also see the Try Before You Employ section for additional recruitment support, including pre-employment training):

  • Gosport Employment and Skills Fair.  You can exhibit for FREE at Gosport’s largest annual recruitment, careers and training exhibition that is held each January.
    • GB&EF on average has 50 exhibitors and over 600 attendees, with employers participating to promote vacancies, career opportunities and to raise their profile locally
    • You can also network with employment support organisations, training providers and education establishments that exhibit at GE&SF to find out about other locally available recruitment and training assistance

  • Graduate Recruitment and Placement Fair. Is staged annually each October by the University of Portsmouth with over 70 employer exhibitors and 3,000 students in attendance

  • Universal Jobmatch. Advertise your jobs for FREE to millions of job seekers online who search Universal Jobmatch every week – a service provided nationally by the Department for Work and Pensions.

    • Get a list of suitable job seekers, automatically matched by CV and skill
  • Small Business Recruitment Service is provided by Jobcentre Plus offering individual support for FREE to small businesses via a helpline 0345 601 2001 (option 2), with specialist advisers who understand small businesses’ recruitment needs
    • Help with the design and wording of your job vacancy
    • Signposting to other types of support (e.g. Acas for employment legislation issues)
    • A contact who can advise you on the local labour market
    • An aftercare service to make sure you continue to get the service you need after you’ve recruited someone
  • Jobcentre Plus Gosport office can provide additional assistance in advertising vacancies to those unemployed locally, including holding open days at the Jobcentre. It can also provide other recruitment assistance, such as advisor support, interview facilities and FREE pre-employment training.

  • Work Choice helps you employ or retain a disabled person who needs specialist support.  This Government programme helps disabled people who find it hard to get and keep a job; and employed people whose jobs are at risk because of their disability.  The provider will work with you to develop a package of support specially designed for your business and the individual with the aim of developing their skills.
    • You could claim a wage incentive if you offer a job lasting 26 weeks to an 18 to 24-year-old who’s participating in Work Choice £2,275 for 30+ hours a week; or £1,137.50 for 16-29 hours
    • This Government funded national programme is delivered locally by the Shaw Trust

  • Graduate Recruitment Consultancy is the in-house recruitment service for the University of Portsmouth. It provides a proactive recruitment service that supports local companies in recruiting graduates.  They support in the recruitment process by reaching out to graduates via multiple networks, pre-screening applications, arranging interviews and providing guidance throughout.  They also work with graduates for up to 5 years after leaving the university so are in a great position to source more experienced candidates if required.
