Aerospace

The aerospace industry is a key sector for the Gosport economy, currently employing over 900 people locally. Defying both the national and sub-regional trends, the Gosport aerospace industry has continued to grow despite the recession. The industry attracts a highly-skilled work force and is high value-added generating sector, with significant exporting and domestic market presence. In addition the aerospace industry generates significant supply chain employment.

Located within Gosport are the Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival School, STS Defence and multi-national and global companies such as Vector and Boeing. With the airfield on the Enterprise Zone at Daedalus, Gosport is also home to Britten Norman and a number of private flight companies specialising in both leisure and commercial markets.

Within the wider sub-regional economy, South Hampshire has 7 out of the top 10 global aerospace companies located here e.g. Airbus and Lockheed Martin.
