INDEPENDENT REMUNERATION PANEL

The Panel will consist of five members, one from the Education Sector, one from the Voluntary/Community Sector, two from the Business Community and one Resident. Its purpose is to advise the Council on its Scheme of Allowances. The Panel must:

• have at least 3 members and they cannot be elected members of any local authority
• be independent and seen to be independent from Members

The first four members of the panel will be asked to make the Resident appointment from applications received to this advertisement. Members of this Panel will be appointed for four years. An interest in public affairs and knowledge of the role of councillors would be an advantage. It is important to be able to provide clear thinking and impartiality.

Reasonable expenses for attending meetings of the Panel will be reimbursed.
